National Project for Enhancing Youth Vocational Skills
As part of National
Project for Enhancing Youth Vocational Skills, the 'Your Skill is the
Foundation of Your Profession', which is implemented in collaboration between
the Ministry of Manpower, the World Food Programme (WFP) and Qodra for Development
and Technological Solutions for Education, aims to create job opportunities for
young men and women for the age group between 18 and 35 years through technical
education and vocational training on the following vocations: fashion design
and sewing, mobile devices maintenance, plumbing, electricity, solar energy, computers
maintenance, refrigeration and air conditioning as well as the basics of
information technology communications, e-marketing, innovation, professional
guidance, entrepreneurship and the creation of effective partnerships with the
private sector. The latter can enhance their chances of getting a real and
appropriate job opportunity in companies or starting their own business. The
training includes consultation, guidance, knowledge sharing and skills
development that qualify them to join the labour market.
Four
workshops were held in the governorates of Beni Suef, Luxor, Qena and Sohag in
December 2021 to introduce the objectives of the project, the action plan,
implementation mechanisms and enhance the collaboration between the Qodra’s and
the Ministry’s trainers.
During
these workshops, Engineer Ayman Katamesh, Director of the Central
Administration for Vocational Training of the Ministry of Manpower, Engineer
Wael Qutb and Engineer Muhammad Abdel Hakim from the Central Administration for
Training in the Ministry’s General Office as well as representatives of the
Manpower Directorates and training centers of the above-mentioned governorates,
have been present to represent the Ministry of Manpower. On behalf of WFP, The
UN agency has been represented by Ms. Mariana Barsoum, Programme Officer at the
Youth Empowerment and Education Unit, Mr. Milad Naguib and Mr. Mohamed Adlan,
Programme Assistants at the Youth Empowerment and Education Unit and from Qodra,
Dr. Nashwa Ayoub, Board Member and CEO and Sarah Ali, the project coordinator,
attended all the workshops.
